About

This website has been produced by the Decolonisation Special Interest Group, part of Bristol Medical School’s (BMS) Medical Anti-Racism Taskforce (MART). The remit of this group was to help support decolonisation efforts within BMS, with the development of a framework to prompt thinking around decolonisation and a collection of resources designed to support staff to educate themselves on how decolonisation applies to their field.

In early 2021 educators across the school were surveyed about their views on decolonisation. The response was overwhelmingly positive – with educators expressing a need for decolonisation, citing examples of work that was already undergoing proactively, and requesting a framework to guide decolonisation activities.

In response, members from across the Bristol medical school and other parts of the university have worked together to produce this website.
